Growing
Up to Become Successful
Most of us are born
with the capacity to be much better than we actually become. But
bad teachers, ignorance, adults with their own agendas, and
multiple circumstances turn us in the wrong direction. Mostly, we
learn to doubt our potential, to be afraid of efforts, to select
the perceived easy path, and to avoid long term efforts. In other
words, we are trained to accomplish minimal success and be
average. One of the biggest myths we learn is that success is
mostly the result of natural skill. But if you think about it,
movie stars, Olympic champions, rock stars, dancers, and rocket
scientists have all one thing in common. They all maintain
incredible sustained efforts. They practice, study, and test their
skills, working many hours, day after day, month after month, year
after year. Yet, the rest of us only see them in the moments in
which they are having public fun, celebrating, partying, or being
admired by the masses. But those are only moments in lives of
sustained efforts. On the other hand, sustained efforts are not
the cause for any one's success. Any effort in the wrong direction
will lead to something other than success.
